A stunning, heavily constructed vintage primitive stoneware storage jar featuring a highly unique four-handle configuration. This massive, hand-thrown vessel features two thick applied loop handles pulled from the shoulders of the main body, paired beautifully with a matching lid that sports an identical set of dual loop handles.
The exterior boasts a rich, rustic metallic glaze ranging from a deep brown to an earthy near-black (similar to traditional Tenmoku or manganese finishes) with a distinct glossy, pitted character. The interior is finished with a durable, smooth olive-drab/greenish-brown protective glaze that prominently highlights the original hand-thrown concentric throwing rings from the potter’s wheel. Both the top rim interface of the jar and the underside lip of the lid are left as unglazed, grit-textured raw stoneware clay, allowing the lid to sit snugly in place.

Shipping Warning: Local Pickup Recommended. If shipping, this item requires extensive bubble wrap, a heavy-duty double-walled box, and paper packing material. Because dense stoneware is highly heavy and fragile, shipping should be calculated strictly based on weight to avoid lost margins.
