A remarkable, rare lot of four (4) original 1926 Indianapolis 500 Real Photo Postcards (RPPCs). These incredible pieces of early American motorsport history were captured by famed track photographer W. Frank Jones at the May 31, 1926 running of the historic race.
The collection highlights iconic drivers and legendary Miller open-wheel race cars from the golden era of racing:
1. Earl Cooper – Seated in the legendary front-wheel-drive Miller Special No. 5.
2. Harry Hartz – Capturing his 2nd Place podium finish in the Miller Special No. 3.
3. Cliff Woodbury – Capturing his 3rd Place finish in the Boyle Special No. 36.
4. Fred Comer – Capturing his 4th Place finish in the Miller Special No. 8.
CONDITION DETAILS:
– All four postcards are authentic silver-gelatin real photo prints from 1926.
– The fronts feature highly detailed, crisp imagery with clear white text overlays and the W. Frank Jones photographer signature mark.
– The reverse sides are blank/unposted with no writing or postal stamps.
– There is a slight, natural structural curve/warping to the cardstock (common for antique photographic paper of this era) but no hard creases or tears. Edges and corners are in excellent vintage condition.
